Abby was excited about visiting Mary during our time in Cali.
We enjoyed a rousing game of monopoly with Chet and Holly's family and Erin Sigler, another MCC volunteer.
Abby discovered a new love: tea parties!
After a few days in Cali, we headed to Armenia. After a long day of travel, we were delighted with our accomodations.
In fact, we were the only ones staying at the finca (country inn).
The next day we were off to the Coffee Park. Armenia is in the department of Quindío, famous for its coffee exports.

Abby Valdez?
Those berry-looking things are coffee beans, in case you've never seen them.
This is a typical country house in that region, with lots of colorfully painted porches.

Abby was thrilled by her first ride on a merry-go-round.

After riding the carousel once, Abby said, "Not one time, two times!"
So she got a second ride.
It probably looks like we were the only ones at the park. There were
other people, but not nearly as many as would be there on a weekend. |
We finished the day by riding up the cable car to the top of the hill overlooking the park.
And topped it off with some 100% Colombian coffee.
Wednesday was our day for Panaca, the National Park of Farm and Fishing
Culture. It was a very hands-on park, which was great for Abby. |
They also had lots of shows displaying the wonders of different kinds of farm animals.
Here's a big billy goat during the cattle exhibition.
The piglets lined up to be fed.
This park was also situated in some of the most beautiful scenery in Colombia.

The following day we enjoyed swimming in the pool at the finca.
We ended the week with another night at Holly and Chet's in Cali. It was a great family vacation.
