We met Ximena for the first time a few days before we left the states. She was in the International Visitor Exchange Program with MCC, serving as a Spanish tutor at EMU.
It was great to talk to her after her year in the US. She's the only Colombian who has been to our home in the US and knows Laura's family. It's nice to have someone here who really understands where we come from.
She brought a banner made by the children of Wood River Mennonite Church in Nebraska, La Mesa's sister church. She was able to visit the congregation a few months ago.
She shared about her experience at church and was warmly received by her home congregation.
Laura celebrated her 26th birthday on July 30th. Here she is with Abby at our favorite restaurant, Arco Iris.
Later Elsy had a surprise for her--a delicious cake with Laura's name on it.
