Dear Family and Friends,
With greatest joy and gratitude to God we announce the birth of our daughter, Anna Sophia Kauffman, born September 2nd at 11:00 pm. She weighs 6 lbs, 12 oz, and is 19 3/4 inches long. She is a healthy little baby, and Laura is feeling great as well.
We had a planned home-birth in the apartment of Laura's second cousin, Janna Hunter-Bowman, attended by the skillful team of Dr. Mauricio Torres, Diana, a midwife, and a nurse. The labor was quite fast. Anna Sophia was born 3 hours after the labor began "in ernest", surprising us all! The warm and loving environment of the home birth and the uncomplicated, healthy delivery were answers to prayer. So far Anna Sophia is nursing very well and is a serene, contented baby.
We have been enjoying this special time together as a family in Bogota. Abigail is an awed and enthusiastic older sister, wanting to hold Anna at every opportunity. We're planning on staying in Bogota for the week, traveling back to La Mesa on Saturday or Sunday. On Friday we have a pediatrician's appointment, and a check-up for Laura. Please keep us in your prayers as we adjust to the awesome responsibility of parenting two little girls. We'll certainly post more photos soon at www.kauffmanhome.net.
