Vacation Part 1: Bogotá

After several hours of waiting at the airport, Aaron's parents finally came through customs. We were eager to see all the goodies they had brought us.

Abby easily bonded with Grandpa through some reading sessions with her new books.

The next day we visited the famous Gold Museum. This is a very well known indigenous symbol in Colombia.

The sheer number of gold items made it obvious to see why the Spanish were so excited when the arrived in South America.

This piece represents El Dorado, the annual practice in which the priest, covered with gold dust, would perform a ceremony out on a lake near present day Bogotá.

This is a very famous piece originally used in an indigenous coca ritual.

We then went up Monserrate, a church built on a mountain overlooking Bogota, in a cable car.

We dined in a fancy french restaraunt with spectacular views of the city.
