After several hours of waiting at the airport, Aaron's parents finally
came through customs. We were eager to see all the goodies they had
brought us. |
Abby easily bonded with Grandpa through some reading sessions with her new books.
How does this look on me?
The next day we visited the famous Gold Museum. This is a very well known indigenous symbol in Colombia.
The sheer number of gold items made it obvious to see why the Spanish were so excited when the arrived in South America.
This piece represents El Dorado, the annual practice in which the
priest, covered with gold dust, would perform a ceremony out on a lake
near present day Bogotá. |
This is a very famous piece originally used in an indigenous coca ritual.
We then went up Monserrate, a church built on a mountain overlooking Bogota, in a cable car.
We dined in a fancy french restaraunt with spectacular views of the city.

Abby is pretending to make a phone call.
Enjoying the artfully arranged pear-crepe dessert.
Posing on top of Monserrate. The restaraunt is through the white arch.
Admiring the view.
The doorway leading out of Monserrate church.
The heavy mist rolling in combined with the strong sunlight created a dazzling rainbow.
Taking Grandpa's hand in front of the church.
Abby chasing pigeons in Plaza de Bolivar.
Abby goofing around the apartment with Grandma and Mom.
Trying on a new dress from Grandma.
