Marta, a resident of the Nuevo Milenio neighborhood, comes to La Mesa Mennonite Church with her family.
The gathering place for the church's ministry to children is graciously lent to us by one of the parents.
After going door to door to invite the children, we begin with singing, and that draws even more kids.
The youth group presented a "musidrama" to a song about the spiritual battles we face. Here Jesus (played by David) is encouraging a Believer (played by Sebastián).
The children looked on intently. I highly doubt any youth group had ever come to present a drama in this neighborhood.
Afterward Rodrigo, a fellow youth sponsor, quizzes the children about the meaning of the drama.
The youth also taught the kids some games.
We finished with the reading of the Good Samaritan, acted out by the youth. The Samaritan (played by Sandra) is helping the injured traveler (played by David).
Again it was not difficult to keep the children's attention on the story. Here they watch as the Samaritan negotiates with the innkeeper.
